22nd Canada-Chile Council Session
I had the honour of representing the Indigenous Science Division of the Department of Environment and Climate Change of Canada at the Twenty-Second Annual Session of the Council of the Chile-Canada Commission for Environmental Cooperation.
On this occasion, I present the collaborative work that we are doing with the Forestry Institute of Chile on issues of Indigenous governance and the results of our successful visit to Chile at the end of April of this year (https://lnkd.in/gcnZ9DJY).
“Canada and Chile maintain a strong collaboration and have continued to implement their joint work program successfully. Since November 2023, both countries have cooperated on issues of shared interest, including carbon pricing and Article 6 of the Paris Agreement; coal phase-out and just transition; wildfire management; innovative indigenous governance; environmental assessment of free trade agreements; environmental licensing and enforcement; and plastic pollution and ghost fishing gear management, among others.”
